What happens when you give university students one challenge, one room, and 24 hours to reimagine customer onboarding through data.

Romax was proud to be the headline sponsor of Hackabury 2025, hosted by Canterbury Christ Church University, Canterbury Christ Church University where bright young minds came together for a fast-paced hackathon event aimed at solving real-world business challenges. Our brief? Build a smarter, more personalised onboarding experience using customer data and AI—with a strong focus on privacy and user empowerment.
A Challenge Worth Solving
As part of our ongoing commitment to digital innovation, Romax challenged participating students to create a data-driven solution that enhances the customer journey from first touchpoint to long-term engagement. In just 24 hours, teams had to:
- Work across disciplines with people they had never met
- Combine creative thinking and technical skills
- Balance personalisation with privacy and security
- Deliver a solution that was seamless, relevant—and even fun
The result was an inspiring collection of ideas that proved the next generation of talent is ready to take on today’s marketing and tech challenges.
Meet ‘Fourmula’ – Our Winning Team
The winning team, Fourmula, impressed the judges with a forward-thinking concept that blended automation, personalisation, and a clear understanding of the customer journey. Their proposed platform delivered tailored communications based on user behaviour and preferences—while maintaining rigorous standards of data security.
As part of our commitment to nurturing future talent, Romax has awarded a three-month paid internship to one of the team’s members. This isn’t just a prize—it’s a genuine opportunity for the student to turn concept into reality.
“We’re excited to bring a fresh perspective into our business and support the development of ideas that can shape the future of customer communication,” said Robin Sumner, Managing Director of Romax.
Turning Ideas Into Action
During the internship, the selected student will work closely with our technical and strategy teams to further refine and prototype the winning solution. They’ll gain real-world experience working on live projects across AI, CRM and onboarding communications—and contribute directly to Romax’s innovation pipeline.
This isn’t a standalone initiative. It’s part of our wider mission to:
- Explore AI-driven efficiencies in membership and customer communications
- Offer clients smarter, more responsive digital services
- Collaborate with future industry leaders to spark fresh innovation
What Does This Mean for Our Clients?

Whether you’re in the early stages of exploring AI or ready to transform your customer journey, Romax is here to help.
Let’s Talk AI
We believe AI should empower people—not replace them. It’s not about removing humans from the process, but about freeing them to focus on more skilled, strategic work.
