Cranfield University, School of Management Case Study
When Romax originally met with the Cranfield Alumni team we discussed the current mailing pack and ways to improve its appearance and reduce cost. The existing pack at the time was a plain simple white envelope containing the Alumni Magazine, personalised letter and matching data sheet – a very plain pack with little branding and low level impact.
How Did Romax Add Value
Using our experience of working with other Universities, as well as producing vast numbers of magazine, and personalised mailing campaigns, Romax made three recommendations to the Cranfield team to improve the look and professionalism of the pack; to increase brand presence and importantly given budget reductions – reduce costs.
The recommendations all included ways to print the personalised letter and data sheet together as one piece, including an additional response device to encourage donations from your alumni. This negated the need to hand match personalised elements of the pack, reducing cost, the risk of error and overall production time. Importantly it also generated an extra revenue stream for the School through further donations.
Intelligent Mailing Services – Romax also used our extensive knowledge of the postal market to substantially reduce the postage costs on the pack, using a licensed alternative to the Royal Mail.
The overall pack changed to become a fully personalised pack in recycleable polythene with the letter, data sheet and donation device all printed as one sheet. The improved pack showed off the high quality printed Alumni Magazine printed by Romax before it arrived with the recipient, increasing brand awareness as well, reducing production time and making a large cost saving.
Through working with the Alumni team, Romax are proud to have saved over £3,500 (13.5%) per issue, an overall annual saving of over £7,000 for the School on this one project alone.
