The need for good quality data when carrying out effective direct marketing campaigns has been highlighted in a recent report.
The Direct Marketing Commission Annual Report reveals how over the last year, three-quarters of complaints made to the organisation were regarding data, privacy and quality issues.
The report states that over the year of April 2011 to May this year they have received numerous complaints from businesses who have outsourced their data from a supplier and found the data was inaccurate, out of date or was not their target market, having conducted their direct marketing campaign.
Commissioner, David Coupe gave advice to “check, check and check the source of the data used in the campaign.”
